Thodoros Kotepanos (piano)
Thodoros Kotepanos studied music in Athens, at the National Conservatory, with Aspasia Kanatsouli, Krino Kalomoiri and Nelli Semitekolo, and theory of music with Leonidas Zoras and Giannis A. Papaioannou.
He continued his studies in piano with Ventsislav Yankoff, Jacques Rouvier and Jean-Claude Pennetier. He was awarded/won the 1st prize for piano performance by the National Conservatory of Paris, as well as two awards/prizes in international contests in Epinal and Athens (Maria Callas). His musical studies expand in many areas, such as the advanced theory of music, aesthetics, electro-acoustic music, organ, orchestra conducting, etc, therefore preparing his many-sided position in the greek music area after his return to Greece in 1991. Besides his selective soloistic activity, he occupies mainly with song accompaniament and orchestration.
His cooperation with the famous counter-tenor Aris Christofellis has been recorded on two CDs with lieder (1989, Sirius and 1996, EMI). He has worked with Manos Hadjidakis since 1987 as a pianist, orchestrator and as his assistant. Since then, he has made numerous appearances in discography and the music scene of the contemporary greek song. Among his important liaisons are these with N. Xydakis, L. Platonos, N. Venetsanou, E. Paspala, St. Spanoudakis, D. Galani, E. Liougos, Chr. Tsiamoulis, S. Yannatou, E. Reboutsika, S. Theodoridou the musical ensembles of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the Orchestra of Colours and others.
