Kostas Makrygiannakis (guitar)
Kostas Makrigiannakis has studied music in Thessaloniki and London.
He has collaborated with renowned artists in various concerts and discographies, both from Greece and abroad, in various music genres and musical areas such as New music, Historically upgraded performance, chamber music and pop music. Amongst these artists are, the violinist Rosemary Campton, tenor James Feet, soprano Myrto Papathanasiou, mezzo-soprano Theodora Baka, pianist and composer Giorgos-Emmanuil Lazaridis, saxophone player Theofilos Sotiriadis, maestros Vladimiros Symeonidis and Miltos Logiadis, dancer and choreographer Konstandina Efthimiadou, children's book and fairy tales novelist Anastasia Asteriou and singers Giannis Aggelakas, Manolis Famelos and Maria Thoidou.
Since 1997 he has performed in Greece, United Kingdom, Germany, Cyprus, Switzerland, Finland, Danemark and Czech republic. He has composed music for children's fairy tales, and puppet theatre plays and he has also recorded for National Radio, EBU, BBC and for a number of greek radio and tv channels. His performances include appearances at important festivals and concert halls, both in Greece and abroad (Athens and Epidavros Festival, Dimitrias Festival, Home for Arts and Letters by Onasion Foundation, Music Megaron of Athens, The Bolivar Hall - London, Karlsberg Glyptotek, and many more)
Kostas is the inspiration behind Guitar Plus Festival from 2005 up to 2011, the only Greek festival which focuses solely on chamber music with a guitar as its axis from Renaissance up until today and from April 2012 he is the artistical director of the National Conservatory of Thessaloniki. Finally, he is a founding member/artistical director of the International Artistical community Music Village (www.music-village.gr), one of the most important cultural communities in Europe, which amasses artists and teachers of every form of art, from all over the world to perform, train, be trained and exchange creative ideas and notions.
