Irene Kalisvaart: classical guitar, vocals

Her guitar loves, complains, hisses, is hurt and amused.  Whether as a solo artist or in an ensemble: Irene Kalisvaart impresses with her richness of nuances and exciting, yet empathic flair. Born in the Netherlands, the international award-winning guitarist has studied in Rotterdam with Jorge Oraison and in Cologne (Germany) with Hubert Käppel.

Next to the guitar, Irene has been singing since childhood, where she gathered precious experiences in choirs and churches with Arnold van der Wardt and as a mezzosprano with Loes de Koning, both being major influencers on her musical life.

Irene’s open approach to music-making spans the spectrum from baroque arrangements, new music, and even forays into techno and folk. Her concerts are a special mix of guitar and voice, held together by her genuine love for music.
